 Puppy Information

Puppy Raising

I raise my puppies with modified ENS and Puppy Culture. What this means is that while I utilize many of the methods in these programs, I also incorporate my own things with a very heavy emphasis on socialization and forming a puppy’s bond with humans early on. I want to set my puppies up for success in their new homes and take pride in how I prepare them. They get weekly nail trims starting by a week old, weekly baths and blow dries starting at 4 weeks old. I introduce them to crates and car rides as well. They are raised with a young child and other adult dogs other than their mother.

Common Questions

What health testing is done on your breeding dogs?

All of my breeding dogs have been fully health tested - breed specific genetic panel, eye exams (CAER) by a canine opthalmologist, joint certifications for hips and elbows through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA).

How much are your Australian Shepherd puppies?

My puppies are $2500 - regardless of gender, color, show/pet.

What do puppies go home with?

Puppies come with AKC registration (ASCA registration is provided upon request), first round of puppy vaccinations, dewormings, microchipped, CAER exams by a canine opthalmologist, puppy vet check and a health certificate.

Can I request a tail be left on my puppy?

The short answer is no. The breed standard calls for a docked or natural bob tail. Puppies have tails done before 4 days of age. There is no way to know how puppies will develop structurally or how their personalities will develop at that age. Additionally, I also get a lot of natural bob tail. Extenuating circumstances may arise where a puppy is born very small and that would be the only instance I would leave a tail intact.

Process

We do NOT place puppies on a “first come, first serve basis.” We work with buyers to choose what puppy would be the best fit for their home and lifestyle. It is our goal for the dog to have a happy, lifetime home and that the owners are equally happy.  This is why we do not allow buyers to pick their own puppy.  While you may have a gender/color preference, please understand that with these preferences, it may take longer for an appropriate puppy to be available to you.

In placing puppies, we make placement determinations based on the individual temperament and personality of each puppy.  Again, we want to ensure everyone is happy for the lifetime of the dog and we take a lot of time to ensure that we properly evaluate each puppy to ensure appropriate placements.  Formal evaluations are done between 7 and 8wks of age where we can properly assess temperament, structure and movement.
